From Ponferrada, which was the most important Templars' presidium in the Spain of XIIth century, we continue towards Foncebadòn. To be seen is the Castillo de los Templarios and Puente Ferrado. From Foncebadòn we continue towards the Cruz de Hierro, a pole surmounted by a cross, under of which pilgrims leave stones as a symbol of the burden they want to give up. There are also paper sheets, pictures, words written by those who want to leave a mark of their passage. The Cruz de Hierro is located at 1505 meters altitude, the heighest point of the French Camino de Santiago.
